Research Interests
My interest in Neuroscience was sparked during my teaching career, which required me to dig deeply into Neuroscience literature for the courses I was teaching. It was then that I decided to pursue my passion for neuroscience research under the supervision of Dr. David Euston as a part of Polaris Brain Dynamics Research group at the CCBN since September 2014.
Memory has a central role in cognitive processes in defining our identity and interactions with the external world. Uncovering the underlying neural mechanisms of the capacity to encode, consolidate, store and retrieve information remains a challenge. The role of hippocampus in memory processes has been known for long, but only recently has interest been triggered into other brain regions that support memory, the mPFC being a pressing candidate. My primary interest is to investigate the role for medial prefrontal cortex in memory encoding and consolidation, interactions between the mPFC and the hippocampus and the functional role of slow wave activity in memory consolidation.
